Cleanroom Equipment

A cleanroom is only as clean as the equipment through which people and materials enter it. We manufacture that equipment in stainless steel to ISO Class 5 airflow specifications, using HEPA filters built on the same premises.

Specification questions

What buyers of cleanroom equipment most often need settled before ordering.

What is the difference between a Class II A2 and a Class II B2 biosafety cabinet?

How the air is exhausted. A Class II A2 cabinet recirculates most of its air within the cabinet after HEPA filtration and exhausts a portion. A Class II B2 cabinet is total exhaust: all air is HEPA filtered and discharged through the facility ventilation, with a double wall plenum and a pressure balancing system. If volatile chemicals, toxic compounds or carcinogens are being handled, B2 is the correct specification, because recirculating that air is not acceptable regardless of filter grade.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic pass box?

A static pass box is an interlocked chamber: the door interlock prevents both sides being open at once, so material can be transferred without opening a path between areas. A dynamic pass box adds HEPA filtered supply air inside the chamber, so the material itself is cleaned in transit. Dynamic units are available in 2 way and 3 way configurations for layouts with more than one transfer point.

What is the difference between horizontal and vertical laminar air flow?

The direction the air moves across the work area. Horizontal units push filtered air across the work surface toward the operator. Vertical units push it downward. Both hold ISO Class 5 at 0.45 +/- 0.05 m/s; the choice depends on whether it is acceptable for air that has passed over the product to then reach the operator, which is why vertical flow is usual where the operator must not sit downstream of the work.

Can equipment be built to a non-standard size?

Yes. Filters and cleanroom equipment are manufactured in standard and customised sizes. For filters, the standard size tables on each product page are the sizes held as standard; other dimensions are made to order, and refill types are manufactured to customer requirement.
