The requirement
In electronics manufacturing the contaminant is not usually biological, it is particulate, and the tolerance is set by feature size rather than by a sterility requirement. A particle that would be irrelevant in a packaging hall is a defect on a populated board.
The other significant source is the people in the room. Personnel shed particulate continuously, which is why controlling entry matters as much as filtering the supply air.
Work station level protection
Horizontal laminar flow benches give ISO Class 5 conditions at the work surface without classifying the whole room to that level.
Entry control
Air showers remove particulate from personnel before they enter, so the room's filtration is not continuously reprocessing what people carried in.
Staged filtration
A washable pre filter takes the coarse load so the final filters are consumed by the particulate that actually matters.
