About Activated Carbon Filter
A particulate filter, including a HEPA, does almost nothing about gases. Molecules pass straight through media designed to intercept particles. Removing them requires adsorption instead, which is what an activated carbon bed does.
These filters use a specialised bed of activated carbon to neutralise unwanted odours and harmful chemicals, targeting gaseous pollutants, odours and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). They are used where the air quality problem is chemical rather than particulate: commercial kitchens, laboratories and similar environments.
